Born in Harare Zimbabwe, enthusiast of good vibes,
perfect moments, and road-trips into the bush!
Lover of Jesus, butterflies, & roadside “chibage”!
Oh, and cats - I might be a little obsessed :)
When I'm not shooting photos, I'm usually processing previous ones,
brainstorming and Pinterest-ing, running errands, or meeting up with clients.
Either that, or I’m out at the lake with a camera in one hand, and a cider in the other.
You know that feeling when you're going through old photos from an album
on the shelf or your hard drive that's been tucked in a draw for a few years?
That feeling of nostalgia.
That "I remember that day" and "look at Joe's laugh there" feeling…
Those “there’s a photo if it somewhere” stories.
I’ve always thought that as long as I can recreate
those feelings for someone 10 years from now,
I'd consider myself a "successfully happy" photographer.
Photography is feeling... it's emotion, captured. It’s a sort of stimulation of the senses, an obsession. The ability to keep a moment alive, the idea of going back to a folder of photos
and re-experiencing that day, that vibe, those colours - it is absolutely fascinating!
I am not the same photographer I was 5 years ago. I've met people, learned their stories, and grown to love them. I know now that tomorrow will never be the same as today,
and so, today must be captured, documented, recorded in the memories we call photographs.
I’ve enjoyed every minute of it - every person that I’ve met, and every new memory I have captured for someone’s story to tell one day. Hemingway says “writers write, that’s key”.
I say “photographers photograph”.
Most of my sessions are done in natural lighting,
as nothing beats the African sun, but I’ve done many indoor sessions too.
My main goal in every session is to make everyone feel comfortable and free to be themselves.
Spontaneous moments are my favourite - when a person is at their most candid,
showing true & raw emotion, and completely unaware of the photo being taken.
The other favourite is kids - the laughter, the excitement,
the “let’s all stand here now… nevermind, we’re all gonna sit - oh, okay, now we’re gonna turn around and chase the ants. We can roll with that!” (remind me again who’s in charge??)
I just love it!
“Why do you photograph?” you ask?
Well, because painting is too slow, and I can’t draw.
It’s how I express myself,
(other than my rebel hairstyles, choice of wardrobe
& cringeworthy puns of course, but that’s a bio for another day)
So... now that you know a little more about me, please stay, and peruse around.
Grab a seat, get comfy, and browse through my portfolio and projects.
Whether you’ve just got engaged, celebrating a new baby, a milestone birthday,
or just want some memories of recent happenings, get in touch!
I would love to hear from you.
over and out :)
